Genuine Amish horseshoe purchased from an Amish farrier in Lancaster County PA. Horseshoes will vary in size, style, and condition compared to the one pictured depending on what is in stock. These horseshoes are cleaned and painted to protect the condition of the iron.
Horseshoes:
From the time horseshoes were invented, throughout the world, they had a connection to good luck. It depends on what country or culture you consult how the mounting position of the shoe relates to that good luck. In our area, a horseshoe mounted in a “U” position is thought to hold or contain the good luck, like a cup. A Celtic belief was that iron shoes warded against unwanted otherworldly gusts. Nails in a hung shoe enhanced good luck and it is thought beneficial to hang a shoe where people can touch it. Horseshoe lore is varied and extensive, worthy of further interest.
